Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submitted article has not been previously published nor has it been submitted for consideration to any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the comments to the editor).
  • The file should be sent in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF or WordPerfect format.
  • Whenever possible, URLs are provided for references.
  • The text has simple line spacing; 12 font size points; italics are used instead of underlined (except for URL addresses); all illustrations, figures and tables are placed in the appropriate places of the text, not at the end. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements summarized below.

Author Guidelines

Articles

The “Articles” section is composed of original, unpublished works submitted to the magazine for publication. 

 

'Articles' must comply with the following editorial norms:

They must not exceed 70,000 characters with spaces, including any footnotes, illustrations, tables or appendices.

• They must be accompanied by an abstract both in Spanish and English of not more than 200 words; a list of 3 to 5 keywords; institutional references of the author, including a postal address, telephone and e-mail address. (For the rules concerning citation in footnotes, please consult the Spanish version of these instructions.)

Readings

The ‘Readings section’ consists of an essay which analyzes two or more texts related to intellectual history. 

 

'Readings' must observe the following editorial norms:

• They must not exceed a length of 35,000 characters with spaces.

• They may include footnotes, but these must follow the norms of citation indicated in reference to “Articles”.

• The manuscript must be accompanied by the institutional references of the author, her or his postal address, telephone number, and e-mail address.

 

Reviews

The "Reviews" section is composed of bibliographic analyses of recently published books, linked to intellectual history issues in a broad sense of the term (cultural history, history of ideas, history of mentalities, historiography, history of science, sociology of culture, etc.). 

 

'Book reviews' must comply with the following editorial norms:

• The heading must consist of the complete information referring to the book discussed, in the following order: Author, Title, Place of Publication, Publisher, Year of Publication, and the number of pages.

• Reviews must not exceed a length of 15,000 characters with spaces.

• They may include footnotes, which must follow the same format indicated with reference to the other two sections of the journal.

• They must be accompanied by the institutional references of the author, and by her or his postal address, telephone number, and e-mail address.
